Borough Market, Tower Bridge, H&M

Dear Eric, Happy first day off work to explore London.

After a long morning in bed, Eric and I took a long walk across the London Bridge to Borough Market. Since this market is only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (not to mention within walking distance) we started off our weekend here with an excellent lunch. I had some proper Fish and Chips and Eric got a toasted cheese sandwich with leeks, garlic, and onions. The £2.50 apple cider is not worth it. However, the chocolate covered honeycomb from Burnt Sugar definitely was worth it (fudge, not so much).

From Fish!Kitchen - it came in a box. So good.
Kappacasein Sandwiches - Eric looks happy.
The queue (line) for this place was super long, but who wouldn't want to wait in line for this...

£5 for delicious messy cheese goodness, anyone?

I discovered this next place while I was walking earlier this week, and definitely wanted to take Eric back here. This is the Tower Bridge and I love it for two reasons: The architecture is absolutely astounding, and the color they pained on the bridge is my favorite teal/blue color in the world.

We considered going to The Tower (which I believe used to be the Queen's residence, but not to be confused with the adjacent Tower Bridge) but when Eric and I got to the ticket counter, it was £18.50 (about $35) for each person to go tour it. I will find discount tickets and get back to you on how awesome The Tower is.

After hanging out by the River Thames, I wanted to go to H&M (Down the stret from tCoveent Garden tube station), so we walked the 2 miles (I'm so healthy) to the West End of London and found an excellent shopping center. However, on our way there we passed by the bridge that was in the beginning of HP6 (Harry Potter for those not in the know). Pretty much, we saw death eaters.....later, in the Tube (subway). But that's a story for another post.

  3. I am so entertained by the picture of the sandwich grill. Everytime I go back to it I crack up. Did you have to get permission to go behind the counter to get that great shot? I'm going to have to go to Wegman's now and get some amazing cheese and bread so we can have something similar for dinner tonight. Thank you for blogging, Jaime!

  4. No permission required. There were two lines, one in front of the stand and one behind. Eric was in line when he took that picture.
